๐ Week Ahead: Aug 25โ29, 2026
Macro: The Fed is stuck, and crypto is exploiting the indecision
The 10-year yield has been rising all week โ 4.65% โ 4.74% โ which tells you bond markets aren't buying the "September pause" story the way equities are. The DXY is pinned near 99, not collapsing. This is not a clean risk-on environment. And yet crypto doesn't care, which is actually the most important tell of the whole setup.
โข Gold at $4,711 and accelerating โ up nearly $200 in three sessions. When gold and BTC rally simultaneously while yields rise, the market is pricing a specific fear: stagflation risk, dollar credibility erosion, or both. That's not a "buy risk" trade, that's a "get out of fiat" trade. Those have longer legs
โข SPX flatlined: $7,708 โ $7,641 โ $7,674 over three sessions while BTC is +23% in seven days. The decoupling isn't a narrative anymore โ it's in the data
โข This week's landmines: PCE on Wed is the main event. If it prints hot, the September pause thesis cracks and yields spike. That's the scenario that could finally drag crypto back toward equities correlation. Watch Fed speakers Tuesday-Thursday for any signal shifts

BTC: Deeply discounted from ATH, momentum model screaming long
Here's the context most people are sleeping on: BTC's ATH was $126,080 in October 2025. We're sitting at $78,159 โ 38% below ATH. ETH hit $4,946 and is now at $2,491 โ 50% off peak. These aren't assets in a bubble. They're assets in a recovery with a momentum engine just turning over.
โข +23% in 7 days, +22% in 30 days โ this isn't a dead-cat bounce, it's sustained institutional accumulation. When 7-day and 30-day returns converge like this, it's a trend, not a spike.
โข SMA50 at ~$65K is $13K behind price and rising. That's the trailing stop for the long-only thesis โ if we close a week below it, reassess. Until then, it's the floor.
โข $79,464 is the line this week โ last week's 7-day high. A clean daily close above it and $80K is a formality. The options market will get loud above $80K (gamma exposure, strikes clustering). Expect volatility to spike on the break, not before.
โข Spot ETF AUM now $77.7B with $53.2B cumulative net inflows. The marginal buyer is a pension fund and a sovereign wealth desk, not a degenerate on Twitter.
โโโ
ETH: The better trade for the next 30 days
ETH is the sleeper here and the on-chain data is hard to argue with. BTC dominance dropped from 59.9% โ 56.5% in 72 hours โ that's the rotation signal we've been waiting on. ETH is up +31% in 7 days vs BTC's +23% and the gap is widening on a rolling basis.
โข 50% off ATH at $2,491 โ ETH has meaningfully more room to re-rate toward all-time highs than BTC does.
โข A single whale has been accumulating 59K+ ETH since July. At today's prices that's ~$147M in patient, non-exchange accumulation. Smart money doesn't do that at a top
โข ETH market cap is $300B vs BTC's $1.57T โ ETH dominance at 11.4% is historically low. Mean reversion alone is a thesis.
โข Forward view: if Clarity Act passes, ETH is the primary beneficiary โ DeFi, staking yields, and tokenization all live on Ethereum rails. BTC gets the store-of-value bid; ETH gets the utility bid. Own both, but ETH has the asymmetry.
โโโ
The call: Momentum regime, long-only, don't overthink it. The Clarity Act is moving, the institutional bid is structural, gold is validating the macro backdrop, and crypto has demonstrably decoupled from equities. The risk is a hot PCE print Wed that snaps yields higher and reminds everyone we're still in a tightening cycle. Size accordingly going into the weekend โ but the week's bias is up.
